SIT Land Holdings Ltd (SITLH), a subsidiary of the Sugar Investment Trust (SIT), was established in 2001. Its primary objective is to engage in agricultural activities, including cane cultivation and agricultural diversification. Additionally, SITLH manages the acquisition, holding, and disposal of properties.
SITLH has accumulated a vast experience in the development of agricultural morcellement projects, the launch of food security programmes and the implementation of agricultural diversification projects. This unique experience can be brought to bear on future innovative projects in the agricultural sector. The dedication of SITLH to supporting our agricultural sector is underpinned by its involvement in the following two areas:
Sugar Cane Cultivation
Some 300 hectares are currently under cane cultivation and SITLH is planning to achieve not less than 500 hectares under sugarcane cultivation by 2028 to double its sugarcane production to more than 35,000 tons equivalent to an average sugar production of 2,200 tons. SIT Land Holdings Ltd employ a dedicated team of 64 employees. We're tackling a challenge on a 110-hectare block currently under sugarcane cultivation. The fields host very old ratoons resulting in low yields. Our solution? derocking and replanting. We have initiated a pilot derocking project and plan to gradually replant the entire sugarcane cultivation area for mechanized operations, as far as practicable.
Agricultural Morcellement
Having more than two decades of hands-on experience, SITLH has effectively devised and brought to market a cumulative total of 12 agricultural subdivisions across the island, comprising of more than 3,060 agricultural plots accessible to cultivators. This achievement not only attests to the company’s proficiency in marketing agricultural land but also underscores the Group’s ongoing dedication to land democratization and the advancement of agriculture.
