Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the post of Health and Safety Consultant.

A. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Health and Safety Consultant will report to the Team Leader- Administration and Human Resource of the SIT Group.

B. QUALIFICATIONS

(i) holder of at least a diploma in Occupational Health & Safety from a recognize institutions; and
(ii) be a registered Health & Safety Officer.

C. CANDIDATE PROFILE

(i) reckon at least three (3) years’ experience in Occupational Health and Safety Management;
(ii) possess both strong and effective oral and written communication/presentation skills;
(iii) be trustworthy and able to adopt a multi-disciplinary approach to problem solving;
(iv) be versatile and adaptable to different work situation and conditions;
(v) have a high degree of professional ethics, integrity, and confidentiality;
(vi) be computer literate; and
(vii) possess own means of transport to conduct site inspections.
 

D. REMUNERATION

An attractive salary package which will be commensurate with qualifications and experiences.

E. JOB SPECIFICATION

1. To conduct a risk assessment for each company of the SIT Group by virtue of the Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act 2022.
2. To perform a Health & Safety audit and device action plans for Safety & Health Improvement for the SIT Group.
3. To advise on the practicable measures and appropriate techniques to be implemented to minimize any risk in any process in the undertaking of the SIT Group.
4. To inspect all places of work at the SIT Group at least once every month and record the findings in the register at the registered office of the companies.
5. To submit a weekly Safety Inspection Report, highlighting the Safety problems areas & advice Management on remedial actions.
6. To inquire into any occupational accidents and dangerous occurrences at any place of work and make report thereon, and recommend in writing any safety and health measures to be implemented by the employer.
7. To liaise with related institutions regarding fitness certificate of machinery and equipment, fire certificate and fire drill exercise.
8. To design, plan, implement and evaluate training programmes aimed at meeting the requirements of Occupational Safety and Health legislation in force.
9. To monitor Health Surveillance program of the employees.
10. To set up Health and Safety Committee for the SIT Group.
11. To be able to work under demanding conditions
12. To perform any other cognate duties as may be assigned by Team Leader- Administration and Human Resource of the SIT Group.
